Filmmm x Fade into You
2026-10-23 @ 18:00
The young Filmmm initiative organizes experimental and artistic film screenings in Mainz. For the current exhibition, it is curating the screening series Fade into You. With Pude ver un puma (2011), J'ai oublié! (2014) and Parsi (2019), she is showing three short films by Eduardo 'Teddy' Williams. The screening deepens the examination of friendship as an essential part of the social fabric. All three films were made in close collaboration with a group of friends. Different recording formats (16mm film, GoPro and 360° camera) provide intimate insights into the lives of the groups portrayed. Teddy William's precise use of a linearly unfolding cinematic form seems narrative, but we search in vain for a story. Despite the intimacy of the portraits, we remain external observers. We are shown interactions, but the underlying interpersonal dynamics are not visible. We listen to conversations, follow figures over rooftops until the camera loses them in the thicket of the forest, floats away or is inexplicably thrown into the water. We want to blur with the images. For the duration of the films. All films are presented in the original language with English subtitles. Total duration approx. 68 minutes. Further information also on https://filmmm.film/ or via Instagram: @filmmm.hosting Fri 23/10 6 pm From 5 pm there is the opportunity to see the current exhibition Freund*innenschaft, the subsequent screening is included in the exhibition visit. Participation in the screening, without visiting the exhibition, is free of charge.

Mainz - Postcolonial: Tours for and through Mainz Neustadt
2026-10-25 @ 15:30
The Mainz - Postcolonial tours aim to give people in Mainz a new, different approach to (their) city. The aim is to show that Mainz was involved in colonialism, to make its traces visible and to sensitize people to its continuing effects. The term post-colonial refers to the fact that colonialism is not merely a past era of conquest. It is a system of power, oppression and exploitation whose structures influence our lives today. There are numerous examples in Mainz Neustadt, from street and place names such as Sömmerringplatz and Adenauer-Ufer to the Mainz customs port, which we want to critically explore together. The tours will be held in German. Sun 25/10, 3.30 pm Sun 15/11, 3.30 pm (duration approx. 1.5 hours) Costs: free of charge Meeting point: Kunsthalle Mainz Max. number of participants: 25 Number of participants: 25 Please register three days before the tour at rlp@rosalux.org For individual tours for educational institutions, please contact rlp@rosalux.org Cost: 80 euros
